Embedded Systems Engineer

For over 15 years, CS Medical LLC has been a leader in developing, manufacturing, and marketing medical devices that are designed to provide cleaning and high-level disinfection of ultrasound TEE probes. Our products are engineered and developed with one single objective in mind: to minimize the potential of patient exposure to improperly reprocessed TEE ultrasound probes.

Located in Creedmoor, North Carolina, CS Medical's products provide quality device care and storage by minimizing healthcare operational costs, improving device readiness and increasing regulatory compliance. Our location is a short, low-traffic commute from Raleigh and Durham, and just a few miles from Falls Lake State Recreation Area.

JOB TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

As part of the overall multi-discipline engineering team, the Embedded Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing software of embedded devices and systems, designing, developing, coding, testing and debugging system software, as well as analyzing and enhancing efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources.

 

You must have well developed skills for communicating with other departments as well as writing reports, executing engineering changes, and interfacing with team members.

 

Essential Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:

Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment
  • Design, develop, code, test and debug system software
  • Review code and design
  • Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources
  • Integrate and validate new product designs
  • Support software QA and optimize I/O performance
  • Provide post production support
  • Interface with hardware design and development
  • Assess third party and open source software

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Proven working experience (minimum of 5 years experience) in software engineering
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets
  • Solid programming experience in C or C++
  • Proven experience in embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems
  • Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review
  • Excellent knowledge of OS coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces (including serial, AC/DC motor control and PWM control) and hardware subsystems
  • Adequate knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components
  • Strong documentation and writing skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Experience in a regulated industry (medical, communications, etc.)
  • Experience with integrating Bluetooth and Wi-Fi into products
  • Experience with analog, digital and power electronics
  • Experience with gas detection sensors
  • Experience with automation/robotics
  • Familiarity with safety certifications (CSA, UL, CE)

  • Reporting to the Director of Engineering

 

LOCATION

 

This position will be based at our Creedmoor, NC offices

 

Terms of employment

This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position. 

Hours

The core hours shall be Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm. As a salaried employee you are expected to work at least forty (40) hours per week.  Our flex schedule policy applies to you.  You can flex around the core hours listed above to complete the remaining required hours in the office.   You have the discretion for lunch and other breaks.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and various electrical components.  Work is regularly performed in a combination of office, laboratory, and warehouse environments.

 

Physical Demands 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and/or walk.  The employee is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with arms or hands.  The employee must occasionally lift, carry, push or pull up to 30 pounds.

Travel

            Minimal travel may be required.
